Greater Marshall Chamber of Commerce
As in years past, the Greater Marshall Chamber of Commerce will take a group of individuals to visit with legislators in Austin, Texas during the 84th State Legislative Session. You are invited to join the Chamber for the trip scheduled for April 28 and 29, 2015.
Participants will depart Marshall early Tuesday morning and will take a chartered bus to Austin to spend the day at the state capitol visiting with local representatives as well as other state officials. The group will have the opportunity to meet with individuals who make decisions regarding our future and our everyday lives. The itinerary in Austin will be set in accordance to the interest of participants.
The fee to participate is $400 (single occupancy) or $250 (double occupancy) and includes the bus transportation, hotel accommodations, dinner (Tuesday) and Wednesday's breakfast and lunch. The trip will start in downtown Marshall departing early Tuesday morning.
Sponsors of the legislative trip include CenterPoint Energy, Republic Services, AEP SWEPCO, and Sabine Mining. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available.
State Representative Chris Paddie is eagerly anticipating the visit from business leaders in the Marshall area. "It is always great to have folks from home come visit in Austin. Your visits are invaluable to let me know what is important to you and that allows me to better represent you. I would encourage as many folks as possible to make the trip to show Austin that the Marshall community cares and is involved in the legislative process," states Paddie.
Bob King, Greater Marshall Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Chairman, explains that the trip’s goal is to show a unified representation from the Harrison County area to state legislators. “There are many key issues that are of importance to our members and area business leaders. This is our opportunity to meet firsthand with our legislators to allow our voices to be heard,” says King. “If you’d like to join us to advocate for business in Marshall, we would love to have you to represent your business effectively.”
The trip is open to anyone who wants to attend, but space on the bus is limited. Deadline to register is Friday, April 3, 2015.
